Because of the even ripening during the 2000-growing year we were able to get fruit which has structure as well as a supple richness. The Sorella 2000 is made up of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petite Verdot. Except for the 3% Petite Verdot all the fruit comes from Champoux Vineyard. As time goes on, it becomes very clear that there is no substitute for the nearly 30-year-old vines from this vineyard. The depth and deep focus of the fruit profile along with a balanced structure are the signature marks of this vineyard. Looking back to the 1995 and 1997 vintages, we see that those vintages in WA that had even ripening are the ones that are ageing the best. The 2000's are similar to these years but with greater depth and concentration.

Wine Advocate Camarda's top wine, named Sorella in honor of his deceased sister, is typically one of the finest offerings out of Washington state. The expansive 2000 Sorella is medium to dark ruby-colored, and reveals blackberry and spice aromas. Fresh, concentrated and deep, it coats the taster's mouth with blackberries, cherries, and currants. This firm, tight offering will undoubtedly require 3-4 years of cellaring before blossoming. Projected maturity: 2006-2016. Score: 92. —Pierre Rovani, December 2002.
