Abadal Cabernet Franc Tempranillo 2005
Hand-harvested estate-grown grapes are destemmed and then fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel in original 12th century cellars. The wine is then aged for four months in French and American oak barrels. Wine Advocate The 2005 Abadal Cabernet Franc (60%) – Tempranillo (40%) spent 4 months in French and American oak. It is a dark ruby-colored wine with a spicy, herbal, red currant and black cherry scented nose. Medium-bodied, it offers gobs of juicy fruit with no hard edges. This pleasure-filled wine should drink well over the next 2-3 years. It is a very good value. Score: 89. —Jay Miller, February 2007.International Wine Cellar Deep ruby. Spicy cherry and blueberry aromas are brightened by suave mineral and floral accents. Crisp and fresh, with bright cherry and blackcurrant flavors, silky tannins and a hint of bitter chocolate. The taut, nicely focused finish offers impressive length for the price. Score: 88. —Stephen Tanzer, August 2007. |
