Welcome to Merritt Wines. We promise to do our very best to help you enjoy shopping for - and drinking! - wine, spirits and specialty beers. Merritt Wines officially opened in July, 2004, but founders Michael and Jill Sautkulis are not newcomers to the beverage trade. They have been hand selling fine wines and spirits in various hospitality settings for over 20 years.

Why do you drink wine? Or scotch? Or beer? For the sheer pleasure of it, right? Unless you are Marvin Shanken, its shouldnt feel like work. That is why Merritt Wines was designed to make your experience fun, informative and convenient.

Michael happily shares his broad experience with his clientele, particularly when it comes to matching wine with food. Merritt Wines continues the wine education through weekly free wine tastings on Friday afternoons, and regular e-mail announcements about currently available special items.

Merritt Wines is a small, comfortable store that feels more like a personal wine cellar albeit one with a broad selection. The Sautkulis believe that there is a market for a friendly, personal approach to the retail beverage industry in Norwalk. They are hoping that their decades of customer service and food and beverage experience will help them succeed in that market.

Merritt Wines also plans to be a generous community partner. In addition to annual events benefiting the Alzheimers Association Connecticut Chapter, Merritt Wines has made donations to: New Canaan GetAbout, the Tiny Miracles Foundation, the Bradley Fetchet Memorial Fund, the Wilton Family YMCA, the W.I.N. W.I.N. Foundation, A Better Chance, Fox Run Elementary School PTO, Brookside Elementary PTO, Rowayton Elementary School PTO, the Global Studies Center, Ponus Ridge Middle School PTSO, Brien McMahon High School and others. Weve lived in Norwalk for nearly 15 years. "We felt very strongly that our store should be a part of our community" says Jill.

Merritt Wines is located at 430 Main Avenue in Norwalk, directly across from the 401 and 501 Merritt 7 office buildings. The store is open Monday through Saturday, except major holidays.
