Casa Lapostolle Cuvée Alexandre Cabernet Sauvignon 2005
Colour: Inked and dark deep red with dark violet shadows. Wine Spectator Rich and polished, with a solid core of blackberry and black currant fruit layered with mocha, sweet spice and briar notes. Shows more purity and freshness, with less toast, than previous vintages. The finish is long and juicy. Drink now through 2008. 16,000 cases made. Score: 90. —James Molesworth, May 31, 2007. International Wine Cellar Dark red. Lively dark berry aromas are complemented by sexy floral and spice qualities, along with a gentle note of graphite. Juicy and impressively precise, offering sweet, medium-weight blackberry, cassis and rose pastille flavors. Dusty tannins build with air, adding solid structural support to the long, sappy finish. Pretty seductive stuff. Score: 90. —Stephen Tanzer, March 2008. Wine Advocate The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon “Cuvee Alexandre – Apalata Vineyard" is similarly styled to the Merlot, but with the focus on black currants. It has enough structure to evolve for 2-3 years and should drink well through 2020. Score: 87. —Jay Miller, June 2007. |
