Landmark Vineyards Grand Detour Pinot Noir 2005
The 2005 Grand Detour Pinot Noir is a blend of three Sonoma Coast vineyards: Kanzler, Keller Estate, and Armagh. There is also some fruit from the Solomon Hills Vineyard in Santa Barbara. The result is a wine that exhibits great typicity and elegant balance. The initial aromas of black cherry, raspberry, and cinnamon spice are underpinned by toasty French oak. Supple tannins contribute to a long, silky finish. This wine will pair well with game, duck, and salmon as wel as mushroom accented dishes. Wine Advocate The 2005 Pinot Noir Grand Detour offers a concoction of sweet cherry, raspberry, plum, and spice characteristics. Totally captivating, this medium-bodied Pinot reveals no hard edges, a savory texture, and impressive purity. It reminded me of a premier cru from the Cote de Beaune. Drink it over the next 4-6 years. Score: 90. —Robert Parker, December 2006. |
