Rochioli Sauvignon Blanc 2005
Rochioli Color: Pale, creamy yellow. Aroma: Aromas of grapefruit with a touch of grass and flinty characteristics. Taste: An intense, complex and ricjly flavored wine. Wine Enthusiast Most of the grapes are from the winery’s original 1959 planting. It’s a beautiful, refined Sauvignon Blanc, brimming with lemon and lime, freshly mowed green grass and tangy green apple flavors. Partial barrel fermentation adds a creamy complexity. The wine is totally dry and bright in acidity, but it’s really the fruit that stars. Score: 92. —Steve Heimoff, August 01, 2006.Wine Advocate About 75% of the 2005 Sauvignon Blanc Estate is from this site. Melons, lemon oil, honeyed grapefruit, and quince aromas jump from the glass of this medium-bodied, fresh Sauvignon. Revealing crisp, zingy acidity as well as a touch of minerals, this beauty should drink well for several years. Kudos to Tom Rochioli, one of the wine world’s great guys who, without any fanfare, continues to turn out world-class wines of extraordinary aromatic and flavor dimensions. Score: 89. —Robert Parker, December 2006. |
