Iron Horse Estate Chardonnay 2003
2003 is a great vintage for Sonoma Chardonnay, especially from Green Valley and one that confirms that Iron Horse is mastering this variety. It exemplifies Green Valley with multi-layers of complexity, finesse and most importantly, exceptionally bright, exciting, zingy flavors. This wine has a freshness and vivacity that makes it especially great with food. Enjoy with rainbow trout, sole, halibut with mushrooms and asparagus, salmon, steamed lobster, lemon roast chicken served with jasmine rice, veal, anything with a cream sauce, goat cheese, walnuts - in other words, as often as possible. Wine Enthusiast A gorgeously crisp, balanced Chardonnay from Iron Horse. Those Green Valley acids dependably boost and brighten the fruit, which in this vintage is ripe and opulent in green apple, kiwi, lime and pineapple flavors. Oak and lees make it all creamy and complex. Score: 91. —Steve Heimoff, February 01, 2006. |
